CLOUDED YELLOW!!
I'm primarily a Moth man as you all know, but this got me excited! I was up my Mum and Dad's house sorting my car out today when I noticed an orangey/yellow Butterfly fluttering about the now dead thistles on the farmland.
I managed to net it easily as it seemed quite dopey, it was as fresh as anything and i've never seen one in this Country as close as this...
Now a question i'd like to ask.... is this a migrant or is there a slight possibility that its an offspring and that they have actually successfully breeded in Hertfordshire? the last one I saw was in Hatfield Forest back in June, so they've been around a while now!

I`d go for a migrant, Ben. Rumour as it, that there was a 2nd arrival recently.
ReplyDeleteI`ve still not had one, this year.
Cheers Dean, yes apparently they've only managed to breed in Sussex
