Last night David and myself decided on blitzing Westbrook Hay, and setup 2 traps near the barn, one at the top of a meadow and the other on the wooden walkway along
a hedgerow towards Hay Wood. The remaining two traps were run in Hay Wood, with the MV overlooking the otherside of Hay Wood.
The moths took quite awhile to get going, possibly due to it being clear, but the temperature did hold up enough for us to enjoy the presence of some moths.
Mostly common species made up the catch with the best moths being 2 cracking Green Arches and a single Coronet.
Singles are still dominating the catch, even where multiple traps are being used and this is a consistant observation.
Grass moths featured well amongst the trap on the meadow, including 4 of the common Crambids, with Crambus perlella being the first I have seen this year.
Numbers of species are approximate.
