A few recent catches including a couple of new garden species

Here is a weekly round-up (or nearly 2 weekly for that matter) from my garden trap.

Back on the 26th September I recorded 6 Clancy's Rustic, which was a garden record at the time, but most nights now i'm recording that amount on a regular basis, over 40 have now graced my garden this autumn, including an early June record.
Large Wainscot have had a very successful year, and as I type i've got 6 already tonight. On the 26th it was nice to get several Large and also one Small Wainscot to compare.

On the 30th, Brindled Green was new for year and a new Shieldbug was pleasing, the Mottled Shieldbug (Rhaphigaster nebulosa).
I also got the variegated form of Acleris rhombana.

Into October and the warm days kept coming, a true Indian summer was and still is with us (for only a couple more days).
The 2nd saw a mint Mallow, one of 4 now this year, and a late Spectacle.
The Indian Meal Moth (Plodia interpunctella) was new for the garden. I've only seen this species a couple of times before, the most memorable one was the first time I saw this species, sitting inside an insect electrocuter in the middle of Hoddesdon town in Hertfordshire, rescued...photographed...released.

On the 4th I actually joined the migrant train, with a nice dark Convolvulus Hawk-moth and the 2nd Delicate of 2023, the first being in July.
My latest ever Treble Brown Spot was also worth noting.

The 6th brought 6 Turnip Moths, maybe migrants? who knows. The rest was the usual fare but some nice forms of regulars were observed.
The best moth was a garden first Ypsolopha ustella, which seems to be only the 10th county record.

It's been a very successful year for the family, adding alpella and sylvella to the garden also. The Ypsolopha tally stands at 7 species.

A season first Satellite was pleasing, and another lateish moth, an Endotricha flammealis.

New for years and notables listed below.
